Face Scrub Favourites | Tried & Tested

Thats a lame title, but I couldn’t think of a good play on words for this post.

I’m the kind of person that uses face scrub (exfoliant, if you’re posh) – if I just wash with soap I a) get spots and b) don’t feel clean. I used to know this girl who refused to ever use anything scrub, I just didn’t get it.

Anyway, I’ve used loads of face scrubs in my time, and though I doubt anyone is that interested in my cleansing routine, here are my top 3 – and how I use them. I am striving to have skin like Natalie Portman…so that I can turn it into skin like Jeniffer Anniston. Baby steps.

1. Neutrogena Visibly Clear Grapefruit Face Scrub

I stopped using this for ages because it became quite pricey, but I recently re-visited the product and remembered how much I love it!
It is quite fine and probably ideal to use every-other-day. The smell is wonderful – very citrusy and fresh, so when used in the morning it has a fabulous energising effect on me!
It lathers up pretty well, too.
I have quite dry skin and it is quite gentle, but I use it sparingly and about 3 times a week, followed by a deep moisturising face cream. It works a treat for me!
I would rate this product 5/5

2. Superdrug Vitamin E face scrub

I bought this because I am a cheapskate. It was £1.99 on special offer, so I figured I would give it a go.

Boy! It is coarse! I love a coarse face scrub, but the chunks in this are pretty large even by my standards.
It smells divine, though, creamy and soothing, like a Werther’s Original.
I use this on shower days, before using the finer srub from Ritessens (number 3).
Its brilliant for under £2 though, and I would buy it again.
I’d rate this scrub 4/5

3. Ritessens Exfoliant

I got this in Joliebox the day after I’d bought the Superdrug exfoliant and I was a bit cross that I had 2 exfoliants in 2 weeks. As luck would have it, this compliments the coarse Superdrug product very well.
This is a super-fine exfoliant with Argan Oil which cleanses really well without stripping your skin of its natural oil, but not leaving it super-oily either.
I use this every day. On shower days, I use it to follow up the Superdrug scrub to replenish oils and give a deeper clean.
I have never used ritessens products before but I am thrilled with them – and will certainly be investing in more of their range.
I would rate this product at 7/5. Yes. Seven out of five.
