I’ve been waking up this week, after a sticky visit to Sunny Shanghai, feeling thoroughly freezing.
My initial thoughts were that its the transition from warmer to cooler climates, but after 4 days of home-time I am fairly confident that it’s pretty much cold weather season in the UK.
This morning, I saw a cheeky bit of frost.
With that in mind, and to cure my hideous jetlag, I have spent some happy hours trawling this seasons top winter accessories. Yay!
Ooh I love a good prim look for trotting around in Winter!
When the chill gets so harsh that the good old cotton mac has to hit the shelf, out comes the wool trench (or even maybe cashmere this year) with very formal, British prints and tailoring.
I like this kind of look best because of its formality – I often find myself in unexpected places in Winter, and better to be over-formal than over-familiar, right?
For me, winter marks much more going out, many more nights in bars and a considerable amount of extra need to channel the rock chick inside (eww I hate saying Rock Chick).
Undoubtedly the best way to stay snug but smouldering is with the leather jacket, biker boots and some fun knits with a grizzly edge – enter the Alexander McQueen scarf, which is surprisingly snug for its flimsiness.
Ah winter weekends! I love getting up early on winter weekends and taking walks – with the dogs, by myself – it doesn’t matter. I like to walk out somewhere and sit reading in the crisp air.
I like wandering around the Christmas markets.
For these casual days, the only way to go is with a parka, a trapper hat and some big, chunky gloves!
Paired with Ugg Boots, Biker Boots or Wellingtons, it doesn’t really matter – is going to be snug!
So there you have it.
