Since the weather has been nice of late, and we finally have the space, gardening has been on my mind. I used to be a terrible gardener, but in the past few months I’ve managed to nurture several plants (not just cacti) and no fewer than 17 chili plants.

In fact, a few weeks ago I planted a Yellow Rose shrub which is coming on nicely, and I think its about time she had some brothers and sisters.

Shanty 2 Chic’s hanging plant shelf is so lovely – I love the dark painted wood contrast with the terracotta. I can’t wait to make my own version of this!
Home Stories A to Z shared this quirky but lovely crooked planter and bird bath, and I’ve already decided exactly where it will be placed in our space!
Also adoring this Tyre Planter posted at Global Cool. I think if I can convince Mr Kitty to adopt this look I’ll be painting the tyre in teal or yellow.
Dishfunctional Designs shared this great upcycled crate and drawer inspiration and I think it looks really effective, too. I don’t think we have the space to make it work, but its definitely something I’d like to try in future!
I can’t wait to get started! Do you have any other unusual gardening ideas for small yards? Send them my way!
