Mr Kitty and I have started the Ab Challenge, and I’ve decided to co-run it with other changes in my lifestyle to improve fitness.
I’m always coming up with these grand ideas to lose weight and tone up, but never end up sticking to my plans.
This time, though, I feel different.
I feel ready.
I’ll set the scene by sharing my goals.
Ideally I’d like to drop 2 dress sizes by September 1st.
I’m not sure how ambitious that is.
I’m not worried about a specific figure in terms of weight loss, because I don’t weigh myself, because I’m not airline baggage.
However, I’d like for clothes that fit me 2 summers ago to go near me again.
I know its possible simply because those clothes used to fit me.
So, here are my starting stats from 1st June:
My stats from this morning:
So, I’ve lost 1/2 an inch in a week – I haven’t been massively strict but I have done some detoxing (sharply followed by a ton of drinking and eating like a maniac).
I’m not expecting to see such a dramatic difference in the next month, but Its nice to be moving in the right direction.
I’ll check in once a week with my stats!
So this week has seen me go from minimal exercise to 30 minutes of cardio every other day and each night doing:
20 leg raises
30 seconds of the Plank
In the name of starting small, I’ve cut out cows milk altogether, with the exception of a small splash in my morning coffee.
I’m having breakfast before I leave the house (instead of at my desk) and taking nuts and dried fruit for snacking.
I’ve cut out the 2 lattes a day at work in favour of nettle teas.
I’ve ditched the mid-afternoon chocolate break.
No bread shall pass my lips.
Exercise-wise I started this running plan being able to run for about 2-3 minutes at a time, then walk for 5 minutes.
After just 1 week I’ve found I’m running for around 5 minutes and walking for around 5 minutes.
I have a knee injury from years ago which slows me down, too, but I’ve found the running plan to be helpful in easing running into my life without triggering pain.
I’ll be making a couple more changes for the coming week & sharing the successful ones!
So… do you have any tips for a fitness challenge?
