Lush Ultimate Shine Shampoo Bar | A Review.

If you read regularly you’ll know I have a special place in my heart for Lush products – and over the past 5 or 6 months I’ve finally started to allow them to seep into every area of my bathing “regime”. Specifically by trying out some of their shampoo bars.

Mr K treated me to their Ultimate Shine bar to compliment my New bar which I bought in August – and I thought I’d share another review with you…

The thing that always disappoints me with Lush products is that their scent never stays on the skin or hair very long – but with Ultimate Shine it’s not so bad, as the product isn’t highly scented to begin with. It has faint notes of ylang ylang which makes it a bit sweet and floral – but nothing overpowering. I was surprised to find it does leave a light fragrance in the hair too – just enough to get a pleasant whiff every now and again.

One of the main selling points for this was that it contains Elemi Oil, which balances the scalp. It has traditionally been used for calming.. and I’ve heard the Egyptians used it in the embalming process, so make what you will of that.
I have to be honest, it does make my scalp feel less tingly than New, which is a welcome change sometimes. It seems the soothing is working well, but then again my head might be totally mummified without me knowing…

As you might have guessed by the name, the idea is that this product unleashes a whole heap of shine on your hair – and I can vouch for that with total confidence. I don’t have massively dull hair to begin with but I have got an old ombre job in the ends which was starting to look a bit dull. After a few washes with Ultimate Shine, though, I have seen a massive difference. My natural hair toward the roots is now shining like the top of the Chrysler building – and even the ends are looking a bit more sparkly. I’ve also noticed a massive improvement with softness, without that Hermione-Granger-esque frizz.

In all, I’m super impressed with this little product – and though £5.75 for a shampoo might seem pricey I can vouch for the quality and longevity of Lush shampoo bars. My last one is almost 6 months old and its still hardly deteriorated at all. Plus its cruelty free!

Next up to the bat will be either Jason and the Argan Oil or Copperhead bars. Do you have a favourite Lush shampoo bar? Tell me all about it!
