Isn’t jewellery a funny thing?
Of all the accessories, it’s the smallest touch you can add to an outfit – but its undoubtedly the touch which cranks up the zing on any occasion. It becomes precious to us and often becomes part of our bodies in a way. How many times have you felt naked because you’ve forgotten to put on that bracelet or those earrings?
Despite having known that for many years, I’ve never really made investing in handmade or specifically tailored jewellery a priority, although it’s always been at the back of my mind.
Recently I was gifted a beautiful sterling silver necklace from London Jewellers, Nude, who specialise in contemporary, handmade pieces. As far as London jewellers go, Nude is pretty impressive – with a range of expertly curated and intricately handmade designs there is something for literally every taste, and plenty of styles I’d never seen or even imagined before. Better still, they offer a bespoke service so if you have a very keen eye for design, or just can’t find that perfect something, they still have something for you.
If jewellers’ stores were chocolate factories, I’d be Augustus Gloop after discovering Nude.
My gorgeous handmade two-chain pendant is part of the handmade Glitter Ball collection which can be seen here. The item was chosen for me by their owner, Nikki, who somehow got my style absolutely correct without ever asking me a question about my preferences. That’s rather a valuable skill for a jewellery!
It’s simple and clean-cut but it has a hammered effect, which gives it a bit of an edge. In some ways it reminds me of the moon, and given my intrigue in anything space-related that suits me just right. I knew right away I was in love, and I haven’t taken it off since it arrived (except to shower!)
So far it goes with everything, and I intend to prove it by wearing it as much as possible.
